The first adventure for the kids and their cameras was a scavenger hunt. Who doesn’t enjoy a scavenger hunt? The children were given a list of things to find designed to help them take a closer look at the things around them in their community. Mentors and kids set out into the neighborhood around the center and let their creativity run wild. Here is what they found-

Item #1. Something yellow that is smaller than your hand:

Item #9. Pets are nature too! Photograph a neighborhood pet:

Seeing the neighborhood through the eyes of the kids was very cool. As humans we can only take in so much at a time but looking at these photographs helps us realize that there is so much more to the world around us. Plus, the kids had a blast! Stay tuned for pics from the next adventure!

Janae’s Scavenger Hunt

Janae always gives 110% when going out and shooting, always working to get the right picture. In our first lesson we shot “the scavenger hunt”. A list of items were given to shoot and through creative interpretation each child shot their own photograph. Janae’s photographs were full of personality and texture capturing her own take on what each item meant to her.
