Ty Samson

Ty Samson grew up in Baltimore, MD, but has lived in Lexington, KY for the past four years.
After taking a year off to work with the underprivileged, Ty will be entering Georgetown College,
majoring in Sociology. She currently works with the kids at the East 7th St Center and loves
every minute of it.Working with children has always been a passion and she hopes,
one day, to bring her love of photography and her love of the underprivileged together.

Along with photography, Ty is enthusiastic about many other things including painting,
art history, baking and listening to and playing great music. Her favorite instrument to
play is the upright bass. Ty also co-authored and photographed for a book being published in
2010, a book about the AIDS crisis in Swaziland. She is grateful for that experience
because it helped her start to link photography and the disadvantaged,
which has helped her enjoy working with OWIP even more.
